About ANNE BOHNE CURTIS
It is a joy to be able to do what I love. I have enjoyed creating art for as long as I can remember. It is a passion that I feel fortunate to have shared with my grandmother, a talented artist herself. I grew up in Savannah, Georgia, and I received a degree in fine arts from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
Artist Statement:
Five years ago, I felt inspired to create paintings of rabbits as a joyful token of blessings. My husband and I were expecting our first child and the anticipation of having a new baby conjures many emotions. As I imagined what I would like to paint for my own children's rooms, I created a series of rabbit paintings in the spirit of feeling incredibly lucky and grateful to have our firstborn. As we have grown as a family and now have two preschool aged children, I see both my painting practice (usually during the short hours of school drop-off and pickup) and the works themselves to be more symbolic of parenting. Joyful, sweet, a little chaotic, and constantly moving and pivoting. I feel such gratitude for these small and ever growing blessings. These works are a celebration of the many fleeting stages of childhood and the love and patience of parenthood.
